Wire transfers(bank transfers) are a well-established method of transferring funds from one bank to another across international borders. They are available to all freelancers who have a valid bank account outside of the United States and use the SWIFT system. In this article we will learn how Upwork accept bank transfer.

Please keep in mind that the beneficiary name on your bank account must match the name on your Upwork profile. Exceptions may be granted for transgender people and those who change their names often. If your payment method was detected due to a name mismatch, please contact support to address the issue or add a new payment method.

To add a bank account for wire transfers

  1. Go to Settings  Get Paid
  2. Click Add Method
  3. Click the Set Up button for your chosen method
  4. Enter your bank account details
  5. Choose a payment schedule and click Next

Your new payment method will be activated in three days for security reasons.

It is critical that you accurately enter your bank information. Any mistakes may cause a failed transmission or a delay. If you are unsure if you have the proper information or if you get an error when entering it into our system, please contact your bank. The timing and fees for wire transfers vary depending on your bank.

Can I link a Student bank account in Upwork’s direct transfer to the local bank method?

AS Upwork payment method is an international transaction-based payment gateway so you need to add a method that is allowed international transactions.

So as I know Student bank account does not allow more than 10K amount and also international transactions.

So first you need to convert your student account that will be a 0(ZERO) balance account I think into a saving account and activate international transactions by branch. Then you can add that account to Upwork.
