Earn Connects
You can earn Connects in a number of ways, such as:
- For the first time, register. To get started, you’ll be granted 40 Connects. When you complete the Upwork Readiness Test, you will receive an additional 40 Connects, for a total of 80 FREE Connects!
- Gain a job interview. When you submit a proposal to a client and are selected for an interview, you will receive a bonus of 10 Connects. Every seven days, you can earn up to 50 Connects.
- Completing an Upwork Skill Certification is a must. You’ll receive a one-time Connects bonus if you earn an Upwork Skill Certification.
- Win a badge. If you meet the requirements for an Upwork Talent Badge, you may be eligible for additional Connects!
How much are Upwork fees?
As a Freelancer, you charged a fee based on your lifetime projects with each non-Enterprise client. This includes all contacts you have done with that client.
Service fees are the same while contracts are hourly, fixed price, or projects from Project Catalog.
- $0-$500: 20%
- $500.01-$10,000: 10%
- $10,000.01 or more: 5%
