Upwork has introduced Connects to help you get the jobs you really want and to keep spam away from crowding jobs. Upwork cuts down on a lot of that noise, combined with hard work from you and diligence from our Trust and Safety team.
Upwork changed the policy of Connects in early December 2020 and now you will see these changes take Connects to the next level.
How to get Free Connects on Upwork
- Awarding 10 connects to each interview won: when freelancers and agencies submit a proposal, win an interview, and respond, they can earn up to 50 connects every 7 days.
- Increasing the Connects that the new talent will get from 20 to 40, PLUS the chance to win another 40 to pass the Upwork Readiness Test.
- Increase the monthly free Connects to the Freelancer Basic plan from 0 to 10
- Increasing from 70 to 80 (that’s 10 FREE Connects!) monthly Connects on the Freelancer Plus plan
- Increased Rollover from 140 to 200 Freelancer Basic and Plus Connects

How much are Upwork fees?
As a Freelancer, you are charged a fee based on your lifetime projects with each non-Enterprise client. This includes all contacts you have done with that client.
